Hillary's Elitist Contempt for Unions

How can we elect a nominee who has such disdain and contempt for unions as Hillary does?

Borrowing some language in the recent spate of nonsensical and abusive diaries aimed at the leader for the democratic nomination, I think Hillary's position regarding labor unions:

-reveals her elitist disdain for working people;
-reveals that she does not connect with the people that make up the backbone of America;
-reveals that she is just another wealthy liberal elitist without caring about ordinary folks like you and me;
-shows she is unelectable;

Hillary Clinton supporters love specifics right?

Let's talk specifics....

Hillary is anti-union because:

(1) Hillary raises money and gets support from anti-union busting friends: http://www.villagevoice.com/news/9950,ve st,11023,5.html

(2) Hillary not only sat on the board of Wal-Mart (need I say more), but she stayed silent in the fact of their well-known union busting activities-the anithesis of the democratic party and working Americans: http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=4 218509&page=1

(3) She was for NAFTA before she was against it.

(4) She is not for the Columbian Free Trade Agreement though he top campaign strategist two-timed the Columbian officials and lobbied for it (and he's still on the payroll!!!) and though Bill received 800k from them.

Folks, Hillary has obvious contempt for unions. We cannot afford to let the 527s get a hold of this stuff. If we don't wake up and get Obama passed the threshold, I am afraid we'll have President McCain come next January!

She was a force for reform at Wal-Mart on gender equality and environmental issues. But she was silent on unions.

I'm an Obama supporter, but I think that overall she made Wal-Mart a better company. I also think that she recognized speaking up in favor of unions would simply have meant she got ignored entirely. But there is simply no evidence that she left due to union issues.

Hey lets just put to bed this ridicoulous diaries , I don't hold what Obama said against him ( even thougth I fall under the category of folks he is talking about lol) .

However your diary is unnecessary beyond the tit for tat , which makes it more like a high school playground.

For your information it is these working families and union members that form the most loyal supporters of her candidacy because of the policies she has laid out.

He was right on on parents. Parents are not a particular class of people- both rich and poor have children.

By definition, jobless people tend to be the poor. The jobs that he is refering to are jobs that working class folks held or hold. His generalization is about a particular economic class of people in this country and it is disgusting.

These are not things that democrats should be saying. Why on earth would we want to perpetuate perceptions about class in this country?

Uh, I'm not sure why economic class matters in this instance. "Parents" are a subset of people, and you agree with Obama's undoubtedly true statement about some parents. "Rural Poor" is also a subset of people, and Obama is undoubtedly correct about some rural poor.

Of course, you're being purposefully obtuse, so I don't expect to see an answer to this.

Look I know some would find it offensive , believe me it is going to hurt him in Pennsylvania because it is a gift to the Clinton camp.

I trust Rendell and all her allies would pound it as well.

I am from a small town area as well , gun owners and pretty strong on religion and illegal immigration , it would definitely rub people to wrong way here too.

The whole thing would be painted to these working folks as , Obama being among the glitterati/literati and the elites in San franscico looking down and laughing at working folks.

I would cut him some slack but thats just me , i know others won't.

I guess i just dont think blaming HRC for BO lack of connection to Reagan dmes very convincing. But we can all agree if BO loses the election and this is due to Reagan dems voting for McCain that Bo supporters will blame HRC. Since that is all they seem to enjoy.

Clinton has more support from unions than Obama and even among the unions that have endorsed Obama, the workers are backing Clinton. So they must be too stupid to know what is good for them.

This video is a mixed bag. Some of it makes links that are not really backed up between Walmart policies and HC. It does, however, raise the valid point that at no time when she was on the board or that company, is there a record of her having spoken up in any kind of pro-union way, or having criticized that company on this particular issue.

I'm not sure how someone who is supported by many unions and many union voters can be called "anti-union", or elitist.
Esepcially when one considers that Obama's wife was on the board of directors of Tree House Foods, which was a major WAL MART supplier?
Does that mean Michelle is anti-union too?

Perhaps this is a poor attempt to distract from Obama's faux pas?
